Buying a village house in France is not often the first choice of most overseas buyers but I believe it is something which every prospective buyer should think about before dismissing it. Most overseas buyers have the dream of a character, stone house sitting in its own ground. However, wonderful such properties are, they can have potential disadvantages especially for buyers who are planning a full time move to France. Such dream properties can be isolating and without close neighbours it can take a long time to make friends. It can also have the disadvantage of requiring a car and driver and if the property is to be a forever-home it is worth thinking about how you would live your life when you are on your own. So, perhaps it is worth thinking about a village house where you will have neighbours and friends around you, hopefully shopping and medical facilities on hand and you will be part of a community.
