French buyers have always been keen to buy new build homes but now overseas buyers are increasingly choosing to purchase new build rather than older homes. Whilst the character of older houses is tempting to most buyers, there are some people, especially those of retirement age or investors, who are attracted by the lack of maintenance required by a new build home. If you choose one in a development then all open spaces and all exterior maintenance are likely to be taken care of for you, for an annual charge. Obviously you can either buy a recently built individual home, a plot of land and have your own house built on it or buy into a development. Whilst the purchasing process of a second-hand new home is the same as that of an older property, both other options need careful research before embarking on them and probably considerable professional assistance during the build and purchase process.
