The Midi-Pyrénées was amalgamated with Languedoc-Roussillon in 2016 to form the enlarged region known as Occitanie. We are sticking with the old region name at the moment as it is still the one most people recognise for this delightful region. Even as Midi-Pyrénées it was one of the largest regions in France, nearly the size of Austria, and as such we cover only two departments in depth being Tarn et Garonne and Haute Garonne. This diverse landscape is more forested and less agricultural than the north of the department and again enjoys the river Garonne flowing through. It also offers access
