Diary Of A Private Seller Who Used Healey Fox

Katrina and Joseph are pleased to know that the ‘cooling off’ period for the Compromis de Vente for the sale of their house has now passed and they can relax knowing that in a couple of months the money will be in the bank and their house will have a new, very happy owner.

Katrina and Joseph bought their home in France in 2002 and spent 6 years living in it. Reluctantly, due to health reasons, they decided to return to the U.K. to live full time whilst keeping their Charente home for holidays. Finally, they decided that it was time to sell it, helped by the knowledge that they had lots of friends in the area with whom they could stay when they wanted a ‘dose’ of France. Four years ago they contacted and mandated an international estate agency and a local French property agent to sell their house.

Unfortunately, neither agency found them a single potential buyer! Finally, when Katrina learnt that the international agency had only given spasmodic coverage to their property on the internet she searched online to find another agent who might give their house permanent internet coverage and came across Healey Fox. It took 6 months for a Healey Fox buyer to visit the house and the first person to see it bought it! Not surprising really as it is a delightful property in a lovely area at a very sensible price. What a shame for all those clients of the other agents who never got to see what they were missing!

Buyer Found For French Property Seller!

Having found a buyer I was interested to find out whether Katrina and Joseph encountered any difficulties in coping with the selling process without the aid of an estate agent. Firmly I was told ‘no’. Wisely they decided to use the Notaire who had worked on their purchase of the property so he knew them and the house. The Notaire and his secretary spoke impeccable English and their property buyer was English. The Notaire explained everything that needed to be done by the vendors and gave them contact details for anyone whom they had to deal with. They have now got the Compromis signed, negotiated with the buyer to sell the furniture to her, signed Power of Attorney as they cannot go to France for the final signature and are just waiting in the U.K. to hear that the money is in the bank! From the time of confirming to the Notaire that they had a buyer to completion is likely to be only 3 trouble free months.
