Perigord is the ‘land of the thousand chateaux – and the nearest is Chateau de Losse which towers over the Vezere River which flows tranquilly beneath the rocky outcrop on which it sits. The whole of the Vezere Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the ‘jewel in the crown’ is the world famous Lascaux painted caves with scenes of enormous bulls, cows, aurochsen and ‘the falling horse’ – what a masterpiece that is. There is also nearby the newly opened facsimile, Lascaux 4, which can be visited as well as the original facsimile known as Lascaux 2. The site is near enough to be of great benefit if you are thinking of a holiday rental business, but far enough away (10 minutes) to not cause any disruption, noise or inconvenience. There are numerous other cave sites to explore too.
